Forest Lake MN is a rapidly growing, attractive suburban community located in the northwestern corner of Washington County. The City is conveniently located off Highways 35E and 35W and is part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. In addition to the beauty of the lakes, residents are fond of agricultural pursuits, the small-town feel and family-friendly amenities.
Settlement of the Forest Lake MN area occurred initially as a result of the construction of the St. Paul and Duluth Railroad completed in 1869. Growth in the City and surrounding township was fueled by the development of summer lake homes on the shores of the area’s lakes, particularly on Forest Lake and Clear Lake. Over time, a commercial district developed along with community facilities such as parks and schools.
The lake home village matured into the City it is today as cabin owners turned their property into year-round residences. Steady residential and commercial growth occurred from the 1970’s through the 1990’s and in 2001 the City and Township combined into one City. Welcome to Forest Lake MN Homes!

The City hosts many parks with various amenities including a swimming beach, playgrounds, picnic facilities, hiking and biking trails, horseback riding facilities and snowmobile trails.
Tanners Brook Gold Course: Tanners Brook Golf Club opened in 2000, featuring 18 scenic holes. They boast the convenience and affordable prices of a Metro Area course. Play spans to 6,887 yards for a par of 71. 4th of July Celebration: Every year the City of Forest Lake hosts a multi-day Fourth of July celebration. Events include a parade, carnival, live music, and fireworks shot off over beautiful Forest Lake MN.
Arts in the Park: This event offers a weekly live music, food truck & a Farmer’s Market, where you will find a variety of fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and more! Every Tuesday from June 15th – August 31st, 5:00PM – 9:00PM (Farmer’s Market goes through September)
